Further to my original posting, I have now had a chance to work with the SD15 out in the field and impressions as follows.

Image quality - hard to say if a significant improvement on the SD14 but, in association with PhotoPro 4.1, there does seem to be a slight edge. Images appear a little better defined and very 'solid' In addition, the performance at high ISO settings certainly seems to have been improved, with less of the 'bleached out' effect which could sometimes afflict the SD14.

Usability - image write time seems about the same as the SD14. In the field, the improved access to ISO settings was much appreciated, and the larger, higher res screen is much more usable. The icons to the left of the screen are not wonderfully clear however.

A surprise improvement comes in the form of power consumption, with the battery lasting much longer than is usually the case. I found that, where I would normally have to change batteries once or even twice, the same battery lasted for the entire trip.

Otherwise, pretty much as for the SD14. A case of evolution rather than revolution, but a welcome incremental improvement.

Recommended, if you can pick one up at reasonable cost. JA

The write speeds are highly dependent on the SD card being used - I've found that in terms of shifting data, it's a touch quicker with the right cards.

Yes indeed, although you seem to quickly reach the point, beyond which there is no further improvement. I use Sandisk and Lexar 'mid-range' cards which I find reliable and fast enough for my purposes.

Overall, I am very pleased with the SD15, used mainly with my 24-60 EX and 15-30 EX lenses for general landscape work, it does seem to extract a little more from the Foveon sensor. It will be interesting to hear other peoples experiences.

Regards to all,
JA
